2018 Quilcene river fishing report:

Over the last week, I’ve been hitting the Big Quilcene ring in the AM and getting limits. The early morning run has been fairly hot then cools off during the middle of the day! Drifting Stone Cold Beads with a touch of yarn has been the ticket for me personally, but guys are catching on roe, straight yarn, and a hook, or corky and yarn setups.

Tribes are netting at Rogers so if you can get there before they do the fishing is generally better. Overall the run has been good enough that the sports fishing anglers and the tribes are both catching their fair shares.

With that in mind, the upper portions of the Big Quilcene haven’t been as good a fishing as the lower due to the high catch rates in the lower portions of the river. There are however still fair numbers that get up the river at night and you can still catch a few, but you’ll have to hole hunt till you find a some stacked up.

The Big Quil is still a go for Coho, and I look forward to seeing you there if you happen to make the trip. Good luck and Fish On!
