CLACKAMAS, Ore.—Fishery managers from Oregon and Washington added additional spring Chinook fishing days in the mainstem Columbia River upstream of Bonneville Dam and extended the area for boat angling below the dam.
Boat anglers above Bonneville Dam are restricted to the area upstream of Tower Island power lines. Regulations for the added days above the dam follow:
Upstream of Bonneville Dam:
Season: Saturday, June 8 through Saturday, June 15
Area: Tower Island power lines (approximately six miles below The Dalles Dam) upstream to Oregon/Washington border (upstream of McNary Dam), plus the Oregon and Washington banks between Bonneville Dam and the Tower Island power lines.
Daily bag limit: Two adult hatchery salmonids (Chinook or steelhead only) per day, but only one may be a Chinook.
Shad may also be retained. All other permanent regulations apply.
Also effective June 8-15, 2024, the upper boat boundary for the lower river salmon/steelhead fishery is moved upstream to the Bonneville Dam deadline. (Typically, only bank angling is allowed from Beacon Rock upstream to the Bonneville Dam deadline during spring-season fisheries.)
