2018 Quilcene river fishing report:

So far this year the Big Quilcene River has been pretty slow for Coho. The runs have been spotty and the fish are not holding up in one spot for long as in years past. I was still able to go 3 for 4, but had to earn it putting in well over eight hours straight fishing.

I did fairly well running a double bead set up with Stone Cold Beads. Used a 10 mm Mottled Orange and 8 mm double milt orange as well as a touch of yarn. Be aware that the Chum are in as well and unfortunately I ended up having a couple hook ups with them as well. If you happen to hook into one yourself on the Big Quil be sure not to take it out of the water! It’s a huge fine if the game warden see’s you and definitely not worth it if you get caught.

I wouldn’t say the fishing is hot right now, but it’s not terrible either, the fish are running but mostly onesie!  twosie! with few small schools of 5 to 10 mixed in. If your willing to put in the time, you should be able to hook up. As always the best fishing spot on the river is Big Quil Estates. The annual pass or even a day pass is well worth the money.
