Hoko River Fishing:

Although several species of salmon and trout run this river system, the Hoko river is most known for it’s excellent steelhead fishing. With healthy hatchery runs of approximately 25,000 fish annually during the peak of the season it’s hard to miss.

During the months of December and January generally is when the steelhead fishing is at it’s best in the lower portions of the Hoko river. Anglers can retain game fish from Bridge downstream to the rivers mouth anything above is a catch and release fishery. Also at this time salmon retention is not allowed on the Hoko river, so don’t be surprised if you have to release a few salmon back into the river.
