Ship Creek Fishing:

Ship creek runs right through the middle of Anchorage Alaska and is relatively unheard in regards to being a true blue fishing destination. One thing for sure the locals do know, because every year several species of salmon run this little creek hot and heavy and every it’s every angler for themselves. Combat fishing to the extreme ship creek’s banks become loaded with anglers looking to get their fair share of precious salmon meat and few are ever disappointed.

Salmon retention is allowed from the mouth to the markers 100ft below the Chugach Power Plant dam. 300ft After the Chugach dam to the hatchery boundaries, catch and release except for trout unless otherwise closed.

Daily Limits

This fishery generally allows up to 1 King over 20″ or longer per day. Under 20″ 5 per day.

Other Salmon Species such as Coho, Pink, Silvers, Chum or Sockeye  16″ or longer  2 per day Coho 3 per day. under 16″ 5 per day allowed.

One single point barbless hook. Corky and yarn, Jigs or spinners,

Tackle Tips:
Twitching jigs, corky and yarn and lastly spinners. Effective colors range from orange, pink, chartreuse to black and silver.


Combat Fishing Rating:

Hand to Hand. Be sure to look out for the arrant cast, and don’t forget to wear eye protection. Polarized is recommended!
