The king salmon season on the Skykomish river closes on 7/31/2014. This means you have two days to hit the Sky if you want to fish for Chinook. Don’t be surprised if you have to hole hunt. Low river levels and lack of rain have cause Chinook runs to be spotty. There are still fish coming up but you’ll have to work for them. On the bright side, there are still plenty of Steelhead and trout to gun for so it should be well worth the trip.
