2015 Hoh River Fishing Report:

Hoh River salmon fishery opens to chinook retention; selective gear requirement lifted

Action: Remove the selective gear restriction and allow chinook retention on the lower Hoh River outside Olympic National Park, consistent with regular season rules found in the “Washington Sport Fishing Rules” pamphlet.

Effective date: 12:01 a.m., Sept. 17, 2015.

Species affected: All species

Location: The lower Hoh River from the DNR Oxbow Campground boat launch downstream to the Olympic National Park boundary near the mouth of the Hoh.

Reason For Action: With the onset of wetter and cooler weather, most summer chinook have moved out of the lower Hoh River. This rule change allows anglers to pursue salmon with normal gear, including bait. The Olympic National Park closures of the Hoh River within the Park remain in effect.
