2015 Cowlitz river fishing report:

 

Selective gear rules to be in effect on Mill Creek (Lewis County)

Action:   Selective gear rules will be in effect on this Cowlitz River tributary.

Species affected:   Trout

Effective dates:   June 6, 2015, until further notice    

Location:   Mill Creek (Lewis County) from mouth to salmon hatchery road culvert.

Other information: Statewide minimum size/daily limit through June. When the new permanent game fish regulations become effective July 1, the trout daily limit will be 3 fish. Only hatchery cutthroat or hatchery steelhead may be retained.  

Reason for action:   Using artificial flies or lures may aid in the release of any salmon caught while fishing for hatchery cutthroat and hatchery steelhead. The hatchery trout are not needed for broodstock and are available for harvest.
