It’s that time of year. The Chehalis is the place to be for some prime time salmon fishing. It’s been a fairly slow start but the Coho fishing is beginning to pick up on the Chehalis River. The lower Chehalis is your best bet, bank fishing behind top foods is a popular spot, but there are areas up and down the river, an angler can plunk in. This time of year Coho are generally holding up from the mouth to Montesano.
As we start to get some more rain they will start working their way to the upper part of the Chehalis. Good bank fishing spots to hit are down near the mouth behind tops foods, and up at the confluence Satsop river. This is the beginning of the fall run so they tend not to bite as much but the late fall run is known for being pretty hot. Still, there are Coho being caught you’ll just have to earn it. Spinners work pretty well, my personal favorite is a chartreuse vibrax #4 or #5. but other spinners will work as well.
