A healthy number of Coho salmon have entered the Humptulips River. Anglers are reporting fair success fishing below the hatchery which is also reporting good numbers Coho coming up as well. Now is a good time to consider hitting the Humptulips if you’re looking to target some Coho.
Eggs under a float is always a good tool to have in your arsenal. Coho will also hit jigs or spinners if they’re not spooked. I’ve had fairly decent success with Coho salmon using a Size #5 Chartreuse Blue Fox. I like the Hawken 1 oz twitching jigs as well. Size 4 hook purple and pink, or chartreuse and white. If the water is clear and low remember to stay back off the holes and cast farther.
